I was used to pulling my D7000 16 MB files off a SD card using Nikon Transfer 2 programs I could watch file by file the transfer.

I haven't tried it, but wouldn't that work?Įven at 5Gpbs the Sony XQD card reader file transfer is fast. There seem to be dozens of them on the market.

And since the Sony card ready has a removeable cable I suggested swapping the cable for one with a type-C connector. I thought the OP was asking for an XQD card reader with a type-C connector, that was not a tiny adapter that could easily get lost. But then I guess I didn't understand the question. I never suggested that changing the cable might improve the device throughput. And yes, the card reader is warm (not hot), even when not in use. When I pulled the cable off my card reader it turns out it is a USB micro-B 10 pin connector, not a type-A. The Sony MRW-E90 is a USB 3.0 device (USB 3.1 Gen 1), so the best you will get is 5Gbps, even if you manage to change it to a Type-C plug. The Type A port still gets the higher speeds as the Type C. My motherboard has two USB 3.1 Gen-2 ports, one Type C and one Type A. Changing the plug isn't going to magically get you the 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen-2 speeds. I'll ship you one of these readers if you'd like to make the cable conversion to type-C. I have that same card reader (notice how warm it gets even sitting idle).
